Social Use of Language Programme
for
Juniors

Social use of Language Programme (SULP) is a cohesive framework within which to enhance personal, emotional and social development from a communication and thinking skills perspective. Within this framework, it provides a series of multisensory activity sequences incorporating stories,
picture plays, 'checkouts', modelling, talking pictures, games and ‘carryover‘ practice. It is the focus on understanding before use that makes SULP particularly effective.

SULP is an independently researched programme that is proven to be effective with children and young people with a range of special needs including autism, specific language difficulties, learning difficulties, sensory impairments and emotional/behavioural difficulties. It has also been used effectively
with mainstream class groups to support and extend SEAL. SULP is recommended by the DfE and has been commented on favourably in many Ofsted inspection reports. Please click here for testimonials. Click here for a summary of research evidence.

You can view samples on the links below or please email orders@wendyrinaldi.com to book a Skype call to view.

The Junior Monster package, comprising a picture book
and talking pictures disc, adds to the fun and
incorporates friendly monsters designed to appeal to an
older age group than the original friendly monsters of the
infant programme – the monsters are show growing up in
the picture book so that children familiar with the infant
friendly monsters aren’t confused!

Junior Monster Picture Book. contains pictures that
can be used at the start of the communication skills
activity sequences. Click here for a watermarked
slideshow of some examples.

On the Talking Pictures the friendly monsters speak to
the children in their very distinct voices! The advantage of
these is that they are more interactive than a standard
picture because the characters talk directly to the
children. The children can make the characters repeat
their words by clicking on the screen - and can talk back
if they want to! The Talking Pictures are stills but on
some pictures the children can create a simple animation
as they click form one page to the next. The disc contains
over 400 pictures - if you would like to see a sample
talking picture please email orders@wendyrinaldi.com -
you need Adobe reader version 9 or above and
FlashPlayer to hear the Monsters

The Junior Monster Pack is included with all the packages
except the budget starter and Set 2 only or you can buy it
separately for £79 including delivery

Animations are for tablets and smart phones and are
emailed to you. They are shorts, up to about a minute
long, where the characters demonstrate and remind the
children of the communication skills. They are bespoke
in that the characters say the school name or the
names of individual children on request.

A watermarked example of the animation for eye
contact is adjacent (Lizzie says ‘Happy Primary school’
in the example but will say your school name in the
animation you buy - & yours won’t be watermarked!).

You receive one animation to try in the best starter and
all the ‘whole thing’ packages. You can buy more for
£69 each (includes a whole school license). Animations are
available for listening, eye contact, good sitting, sharing & timing talk;
they are £29 each or £55 for two (includes a whole school licence)
and can be added to any of the package options.
